When managing your marketing efforts, it's crucial to organize your contact information efficiently. Over time, you may accumulate a large number of contacts, and effectively reaching them with targeted emails and automations requires strategic segmentation. This guide will walk you through the concept of segments, why they are essential, and how you can add your contacts to the Marketing Engine.
Segments allow you to categorize your contacts based on shared characteristics such as demographics, behaviors, or engagement levels. By segmenting your audience, you can:
Personalize Your Campaigns
Tailor your messaging to resonate with specific groups
Improve Engagement
Send relevant content that meets your contacts' needs
Increase Efficiency
Focus on high-value contacts and optimize your marketing efforts
Enhance Automation
Create targeted workflows that guide contacts through the customer journey.
You can add your contacts to the Marketing Engine using two primary methods:
Manual Addition: Add contacts individually.
Bulk Upload: Upload multiple contacts at once using a CSV file.
Before adding contacts, it’s important to understand the available dashboards and tabs within the Marketing Engine.
The Dashboard provides an overview of your contact analytics, offering insights such as:
Active and Inactive Contacts: Track the number of engaged vs. non-engaged contacts.
Contact Sources: Identify where your contacts are coming from.
Paying and Non-Paying Contacts: Understand your revenue-generating segments.
Web Push Subscribers: Monitor subscriber engagement across different channels.
Selecting a specific date range on the dashboard will present insights tailored to that timeframe.
The Contacts tab displays all contacts added to the Marketing Engine, whether through manual input or bulk uploads. Here, you can:
Search for specific contacts.
Edit contact details.
Move contacts to different lists.
Delete contacts from lists or permanently remove them.
The Contact List tab organizes contacts into static lists based on specific criteria. Grouping contacts into lists helps streamline your campaigns. For example, contacts collected during a webinar can be added to a list named "Google Ads Event." These lists can be used for future targeted campaigns.
The Audience tab showcases all the segments you have created within the Marketing Engine. Segments are dynamic and update automatically based on criteria such as contact behavior, demographics, or interaction history. You can also create new segments here.
In the Upload History tab, you can track the status of your bulk contact uploads, including:
Number of contacts successfully added or updated.
Partially imported contacts.
Contacts that failed to upload.
If there are any errors, you can download the error report for further review and correction.
By leveraging segmentation in the Marketing Engine, you can ensure your marketing efforts are targeted, efficient, and effective in driving engagement and conversions.
