Importing a File into Unsubscribe List

Before You Get Started

  • Obtain your contact file containing unsubscribe requests

  • Ensure access to the contact management system

  • Ensure you have the appropriate permissions to manage contact lists

Steps

Follow the steps below to import contacts into an unsubscribe list using a temporary list. This method ensures proper handling of unsubscribe requests and maintains data integrity in the contact management system.

1. Create and Import Contacts to Temporary List

  1. Navigate to the Lists section in the contact management system

  2. Click "Create New List" or similar option

  3. Name the list with a clear temporary identifier (e.g., "Temp_Unsubscribe_[Date]")

  4. Select the import option for the new temporary list

  5. Upload your contact file containing the unsubscribe requests

  6. Follow the system prompts to map contact fields correctly

  7. Complete the import process

2. Verify Import Success

  1. Check the temporary list to confirm the total number of imported contacts

  2. Review a sample of the imported contacts to ensure:

  3. All required fields are populated correctly

  4. Contact information is formatted properly

  5. No duplicate entries exist

  6. Compare the count with your source file to ensure all contacts were imported

3. Select Contacts from Temporary List

  1. Access the temporary list by clicking on the list name

  2. Use the select all function to highlight all contacts

  3. Usually located at the top of the contact list.

  4. Verify the selection count matches your expected total

4. Move Contacts to Unsubscribe List

  1. Look for the "Actions" or "More Actions" dropdown menu

  2. Select the "Add to Unsubscribe List" option

  3. Confirm the action when prompted

  4. Wait for the system to process the request

5. Validate Unsubscribe List

  1. Navigate to the main Unsubscribe (Default) list

  2. Verify that:

  3. The total count has increased by the expected number

  4. Recently added contacts appear in the list

  5. Status fields show correct unsubscribe status

6. Clean Up

  1. Return to the Lists section

  2. Locate your temporary list

  3. Select the delete option for the temporary list

  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted

  5. Verify the temporary list has been removed

  1. Post-Process Verification

  • Document the number of contacts processed

  • Record the date and time of the unsubscribe process

  • Consider saving a backup of the original file for record-keeping
