Deep Links — Open Chat from Any Link (SFX Parameters)

Deep links let you send people to any page on a client's website and have the Satisfi chat open the moment the page loads. The chat can also ask a question, trigger a specific response or hand off to a live agent automatically. You build them by adding utm_sfx_ parameters to the end of a normal page URL. No code changes are needed.

Requirement: the Satisfi chat snippet must already be installed on the page you link to. Deep links use the chat that is already there. If the page has no Satisfi snippet, the link simply opens the page.

Use case
What happens

Email campaigns

A button or link in an email opens the client's page, and the chat opens with a question or offer already answered.

QR codes

On mobile, scanning opens the client's page and the chat fires immediately. There's no need to find and tap the chat bubble.

Live agent hand-off

The link opens the chat and connects the visitor straight to a live agent.

SMS and social ads

Same as email: land on the page with the right answer already on screen.

How it works

  1. Start with the page URL, for example https://d2.satisfi6.com/html/popup_injection_demo.html.

  2. Add ? and one or more utm_sfx_ parameters. Join extra parameters with &.

  3. When someone opens the link, the page loads normally, the chat opens, and it sends your question or triggers your response.

  4. The chat then removes the utm_sfx_ parameters from the address bar, so the visitor only sees the normal page URL. Any other parameters on the link (such as your own tracking tags) are kept.

Parameters

All parameters are optional. Use any combination.

Parameter
What it does
Example

utm_sfx_input

Opens the chat and sends this as the visitor's first message. Use plain text, or response_name= followed by a response name to trigger that exact response.

utm_sfx_input=Where%20do%20I%20park%3F

utm_sfx_input_hidden

Set to 1 to send the input without showing it in the chat. The visitor sees only the reply.

utm_sfx_input_hidden=1

utm_sfx_auto_open

Set to 1 to open the chat to its welcome message without sending anything.

utm_sfx_auto_open=1

utm_sfx_extid

Attaches an external ID to the chat session, such as a campaign or member ID.

utm_sfx_extid=fall_email_2026

utm_sfx_cf

Passes a custom field value into the chat session for routing or personalized responses.

utm_sfx_cf=VIP

Examples

Every example below points at the Satisfi Popup Injection Demo, so you can click it and watch it work. For a client, swap the demo URL for any page on their site that has the chat snippet.

Email: open the chat with a question

The chat opens and answers the question. The visitor sees the question and the answer.

Email: show a specific response only

The chat opens straight to the who_built_this_agent_pr response. No question appears, only the reply. Use this for offers and coupons.

QR code: open the chat on arrival

Scanning opens the page with the chat already open to the welcome message.

QR code: open the chat to a specific answer, tagged

Opens the chat with the answer and tags the session so QR scans can be told apart from other chats.

Live agent: connect right away

Replace YOUR_LIVE_AGENT_RESPONSE with the name of the response that transfers to a live agent in the client's Satisfi console, and the demo URL with the client's page. The chat opens and starts the hand-off without the visitor typing anything.

Tips

  • Test before you send. Open every link on desktop and on a phone before it goes into an email or onto a printed QR code.

  • One chat per page. The page should load only one Satisfi chat. If two load, the chat may not open.

  • Use response names for exact answers. Plain-text questions go through the AI, which interprets them. response_name= always returns the same response, which is best for offers and printed QR codes.

  • Tag your campaigns. Use utm_sfx_extid with a different value for each email, QR code or ad so you can tell which one drove the chat.
